Undergraduate students learn to identify key works of art and interpret art in a broad historical context, and gain advanced knowledge of relevant art historical discourse and theoretical methods in a specialized period or cultural context.

Graduate Studies
Art history graduate students advance their skills in critical thinking and analysis while specializing in a particular area of academic interest. Graduate degree students gain a broad knowledge of art as well as the ability to analyze and interpret works in areas of specialization.

Galleries and Exhibitions
Galleries in Savannah, Atlanta and Lacoste provide changing exhibitions of work by well-known and emerging artists.

SCAD Museum of Art
  • The Earle W. Newton Center for British and American Art features paintings, drawings and prints from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries in the
  • Plans for the future Walter O. Evans Center for African-American Studies include an initial donation of 70 works surveying a range of African-American art from the 19th and 20th centuries, including works by Romare Bearden, Aaron Douglas and Jacob Lawrence.
Biennial Art History Symposium
The 2008 symposium, "New Museum, New Museology," explores the latest trends in museum studies.
